Chapter 7
Inspection Tools
7192
The Gage Threshold panel contains a separate adjustment for the rising
and falling edges of an object in the image field. The rising edge is a
transition from a dark to a light area; the falling edge is a transition from a
light to a dark area.
The threshold settings are both 32 by default. This means that an edge will be
detected wherever the gray scale value changes by at least 32 (within the
number of pixels specified by the Kernel setting). For a rising edge, the gray
scale value must increase by 32 or more; for a falling edge the value must
decrease by that amount.
A threshold value can be adjusted by sliding the appropriate cursor up or
down, or by clicking the box containing the threshold value. In that case,
the calculator pad will appear, and a value between 0 and 127 can be entered.
For more detailed information about thresholds, refer to the Threshold and
Kernel Settings section on page 86.
When you pick the Gage Label field in the multiple gages tool edit panel,
the keyboard panel appears, as shown in Figure 7.154.

You can use the keyboard to enter an appropriate name or label for the
selected subgage. The label can contain up to eight characters. When you
click the Enter key to enter the label, the label will appear in the
SubGages result list box and adjacent to the subgage. Whenever you
move (pick and place) the subgage, the label will move with it.
